Alan Lemmon, Scientific Computing Associate Professor, has been awarded the university’s Developing Scholar Award by the Council on Research and Creativity. The award is based on Lemmon’s strong cumulative record of achievements in scholarship, teaching and service. Of particular note is his research in phylogenetics and his methods to lower the costs of genome sequencing.

Lemmon will be recognized at the annual Faculty Awards Program, and will receive a one-time award of $10,000 to be used to promote his program of research and creativity during the approaching academic year. The awards program will be held Tuesday, April 25th at the FSU Alumni Center.

The Developing Scholar Award is given to tenured associate professors to recognize contributions and accomplishments since joining the FSU faculty. The award requires evidence of superior teaching, research and creativity that has begun to earn external recognition. The period of Lemmon’s award spans from July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018.
