Ph.D. student Dan Lu has been awarded a Student Travel Fellowship to attend the annual Principal Investigator meeting of the Subsurface Biogeochemical Research unit of the Department of Energy. The meeting will be held April 30 – May 2, 2012 in Washington, DC, and is intended to provide an opportunity for Principal Investigators to discuss successes, problems, and challenges of their research. The meeting is attended by PIs and their associates.

Lu was selected for the fellowship for her research on Predictive Uncertainty in Groundwater Reactive Transport Modeling; her abstract has been forwarded to Oak Ridge for inclusion in the meeting materials.

In March, Lu successfully defended her dissertation on groundwater modeling, and has accepted a post doctoral research appointment at the United States Geological Survey in San Francisco, California. Lu will work under the joint supervision of her professor, Ming Ye, and Gary Curtis.
