"Phylogenetics and its applications: an introduction for Scientific Computing Folks"

Abstract:

I will talk about the history of phylogenetics, several methods how to construct basic phylogenetic trees, and how to discuss uncertainty in the context of phylogenetic trees. I will conclude with a few applications of phylogenetics in natural history, epidemiology/population genetics, and forensics.
