SC XSEDE Data Simulation and Modeling Contest

SC students Brian Bartoldson, Eitan Lees, Juan Llanos, Ian McCann, Dan Smith, and Amirhessam Tahmassebi will compete with representatives from other universities across the southeast at the upcoming XSEDE conference in Miami, July 17-21, 2016. Alex Townsend will take part in the first local competition and is an alternate for competing in Miami.

Meyer-Baese and Beerli on Sabbatical

Two Scientific Computing professors are away this term, having been selected for sabbaticals. Professors Anke Meyer-Baese and Peter Beerli will spend Spring 2016 doing research after being awarded one-semester of research leave by the Office of Faculty Development.

Postdoc and faculty serve as judges for STEM competition

Two members of the Department of Scientific Computing participated as volunteers for the Capital Regional Science and Engineering Fair (CRSEF), held Friday, February 12th at Tully Gym on FSU’s campus. Assistant professor Bryan Quaife and SC postdoc Lindley Graham served as judges for the fair.

Grad students to attend Clemson Miniconference

Scientific Computing graduate students Chad Sockwell, Isaac Lyngaas, Lukas Bystricky and Nicolas Lopez will give talks at the upcoming 8th Annual JohnFest/SIAM Student Conference on February 6, 2016 at Clemson University. The informal miniconference in applied mathematics and related areas is sponsored jointly by the National Science Foundation, Clemson’s SIAM Student chapter, SIAM Southeast and Clemson’s Math department.
